What file format does my photo need to be?
All photos must be either a JPG, PNG or GIF file.

How big does my photo need to be?
Submitted photos must be at least 640x480. To find out if your photo is large enough, right click on the photo, select Properties, and then select the Details tab. Scroll down to Dimensions to find the size.

Why does my photo need to be a certain size?
We've specified the size to ensure that the photos maintain optimal quality as they're converted for use in the mosaic. Our system will tell you if there is a problem with the size of your photo.

Can I crop my photo?
Yes; just follow the cropping instructions as you're going through the uploading process. Keep in mind that the closer that you crop the faces, the better you'll be able to see yourself in the mosaic.

Can I change the orientation of my photo?
All photos need to be horizontal. Follow the instructions during the uploading process to rotate your photo if necessary; if you submit a photo in which the image appears sideways, that's how it will appear in the mosaic.

How do I know what my photo will look like in the mosaic?
After the photo has uploaded, click the Preview button. This will show you exactly how your photo will appear in the final print.

Can I submit any photo for inclusion?
Fan Mosaics reserves the right to reject any photo because of questionable content. We will notify you if this occurs so that you have the opportunity to submit a different photo.

How many pictures will appear in the mosaic?
Each mosaic accepts a limited number of photos, as detailed in the description of the project. Each uploaded photo is guaranteed to appear once in the mosaic but may appear more than once if space allows.

How will the photos appear in the mosaic?
From far back, the Fan Mosaic will look like a print of the subject. Up close, you'll be able to see all of the smaller photos that make up the big image. Although we may show a half-completed mosaic on the project pages simply to illustrate the mosaic concept, the finalized mosaic will be filled entirely with submitted photos.

How do Fan Mosaics compare with posters?
Fan Mosaics are much higher quality than typical posters. They are printed on 100# gloss stock and detailed with metallic ink. They're designed to be framed and displayed like collector's art.

How long do Fan Mosaic projects stay open for submissions?
The typical project accepts uploads for approximately 30 days. If a certain project will be open for a longer or shorter time, it'll be noted on the project Web page.

How long will it take to get my Fan Mosaic?
We begin building a Fan Mosaic after all the spots have been filled or when the close date arrives, whichever happens first. Generally, you can expect your print to arrive within 30 days after we close the project.

How will I know the status of my mosaic?
We will send you email messages to let you know each time your Fan Mosaic enters another phase of the project (design, printing, and shipping).

How do I use the search tool to find my photo?
From the main page of our Web site or your mosaic’s project page, click on the My Mosaic link. Enter the email address you used during the photo upload and then click “Find.” A bright yellow dot will show you where your photo is located. Click on the dot and it will zoom in on your photo and tell you its exact location—row and column—in the print.

Why can’t the search tool find my photo?
For the search tool to find your photo, you must be 1) looking in the correct mosaic, and 2) entering the email address you used during the photo upload. If you’ve confirmed both of these are correct and are still having trouble, please email us at info@fanmosaics.com.
